Educational Administration and Management Course
for School Administrators

This course supports senior teachers aspiring to leadership roles such as PGM, SEO, and SPSM, and fulfils the Elective Part of the Education Bureau’s enhanced training requirements. Aimed at SGMs, PSMs, and experienced teachers, it covers school management, leadership, mentoring, and key topics like curriculum, student support, and legal matters. Through lectures, workshops, and school visits, the course promotes reflection, innovation, and cross-school networking, equipping future school administrators to meet the evolving needs of Hong Kong’s education system.

Professional Development Programme for Newly-appointed Principals

Commissioned by the Education Bureau and delivered by EdUHK in 2024/25, this programme supports newly-appointed principals (NAPs) in their second year of mandatory training. It strengthens leadership capabilities through a structured course, leadership forums with experienced leaders, and visits to business and NGO sectors for cross-sector insights. A reflective debriefing session consolidates learning and encourages application in schools. The programme equips NAPs with practical strategies and global perspectives to become visionary leaders driving sustainable school improvement.

Shenzhen-Hong Kong Principals’ Forum

The Shenzhen-Hong Kong Principals’ Forum is a flagship cross-border initiative co-organised by the Education Bureau of Hong Kong and the Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau, delivered by EdUHK. Held in December 2024, the forum gathered around 260 principals from Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Macao, and other Greater Bay Area cities. It serves as a key platform for professional exchange and leadership development, fostering regional collaboration and enhancing educational quality across kindergartens, primary, secondary, and special schools in the region.

Courses on Physical and Mental Health for Teachers

Commissioned by the Education Bureau, the Courses on Physical and Mental Health for Teachers were delivered in 2023/24 to support teacher well-being. The programme included the Pastel Nagomi Art certification course, expressive arts therapy, and yoga workshops, all designed to promote relaxation, emotional balance, and stress management. An online yoga course further offered practical breathing and mindfulness techniques. Through creative expression and holistic wellness practices, the programme helped teachers enhance their physical, emotional, and mental resilience in daily life.

Programme for Leadership Enhancement for Serving Vice-Principals

Commissioned by the Education Bureau and delivered by EdUHK, this programme strengthens the leadership capacity of experienced vice-principals in Hong Kong’s schools. It combines theory and practice through business or NGO attachments and structured courses on innovation, strategic leadership, and change management. Participants reflect on leadership practices and present their insights in peer-sharing sessions with professional feedback. The programme promotes cross-sector learning, enhances leadership confidence, and concludes with an open forum to share impactful practices across the education sector.

Core Programme under Enhanced Training for Promotion -
Reflection and Practice of Professional Leadership

This professional development programme, part of the Education Bureau’s enhanced training for promotion, is designed by EdUHK to support aspiring school leaders. Grounded in Transformational Leadership theory, it incorporates tools like VIA Character Strengths and Belbin Team Roles to foster self-reflection and team-building. Participants explore leadership styles, communication, and mentoring strategies to strengthen their leadership capabilities. The programme prepares middle leaders to take on greater responsibilities and drive school development in line with the government’s vision.

‘i-Journey’ Paid Non-local Study Leave Scheme for Teachers

As part of the ‘i-Journey’ Paid Non-local Study Leave Scheme for Teachers, EdUHK supports two customised programmes on Assessment Literacy and Self-directed Learning. Each includes local preparation, overseas study and attachments, and post-trip project development. Through structured learning and mentoring, participants gain global insights and practical strategies to implement impactful school-based projects. The programme promotes integration of international experience with local practice, fostering innovation and sharing of good practices across the education sector in Hong Kong.

'Empowering Entrepreneurial Leaders' middle leaders training programme

This project focuses on showcasing schools’ successful initiatives, responding to changes in the school environment, and enhancing practices through cross-school collaboration and the Greater Bay Area (GBA) programme. By building on past achievements and embracing adaptability and external partnerships, the project aims to foster continuous improvement and create a vibrant, forward-looking educational environment.

'Advancing subject head capacity with the insight of GBA practices'
middle leaders training programme

The ‘Advancing teaching capacity with the insight of GBA practices’ middle leaders training programme is a teacher professional development programme aiming to train subject heads to become facilitators in their subject panels. Participants will attend a series of workshops and consultation sessions, accompanied by peer lesson observation sessions and a one-day visit to schools in the GBA. It features on-job-training, leadership-informed training, tools for coordinators to better understand their team and feedback from subject experts.

subject head training programme

'Advancing teaching capacity in catering learning diversity' subject head training programme a leadership learning project aims at training subject heads to become facilitators in their subjects to promote subject members’ teaching capacity.

With the EdUHK team guidance, teachers embed the adaptive and blended learning pedagogy into teaching. Teacher leaders will design a framework to enhance colleagues’ teaching capacity and form systematic measures by applying leadership skills.

Service Leadership 3Cs for Entrepreneurial Teacher Leaders

Service Leadership 3Cs for Entrepreneurial Teacher Leaders is a leadership learning project designed to train school leaders to develop and accomplish innovative school initiatives.

This project provides a comprehensive study of current theories and applied research in middle leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurialism. It reveals practices and principles of organisational restructuring, organisational development, and innovation, presenting strategies for supporting entrepreneurialism in educational organisations (edupreneurialism).

School-based Middle Leaders Training

The project involved 284 hours of meetings, workshops, consultations and sharing sessions were conducted with a total beneficiary of 318 teachers. With the support of the project team, these schools now have a clearer understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of their schools, then revise the major concerns, and formulate feasible and effective initiatives to fulfil the major concerns with their improved understanding of their school.

Developing Middle Leaders as Entrepreneurial Teachers

This project aims to apply the research findings on edupreneur, in particular, to support middle leadership development in schools. The project team employs a practice-oriented approach to guide teachers’ professional reflection that can be used to review and develop middle and teacher leaders as ‘Edupreneurs’ in schools.
