The professional development training programme is a core component of the enhanced training requirements for promotion, as outlined by the Education Bureau. Designed by the Education University of Hong Kong, the workshop supports aspiring school leaders—such as Senior Graduate Masters/Mistresses and Education Officers—in developing essential leadership competencies. Grounded in the theory of Transformational Leadership, the programme integrates tools such as VIA Character Strengths and Belbin Team Roles assessments to encourage self-reflection and team-building effectiveness. Through exploring leadership styles, communication strategies, and mentoring techniques, participants gain insights into managing teams and driving school development. The workshop aligns with the government’s vision for strengthening middle leadership in schools and plays a key role in preparing educators for their expanded roles and responsibilities.
