The Teacher Entrepreneurialism School Improvement Programme (TESIP) is a professional development initiative of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). It focuses on teacher entrepreneurialism and school leadership education, helping to strengthen school leadership and improve school effectiveness at every stage of the teaching career.
TESIP brings together a range of training and professional development programmes for teachers and school leaders. These span junior teachers taking their first steps into leadership, middle leaders, vice-principals, newly-appointed principals, school managers and school supervisors. Each programme is designed around the challenges and responsibilities that come with that particular stage of an educator's career.
TESIP is led by Dr Ho Chun Sing Maxwell, whose research on Teacher Entrepreneurial Behaviour (TEB) shapes the programme's approach.
TEB sits at the heart of TESIP's work. It is not about business entrepreneurship, but about proactively managing change, improving schools and mobilising support.
Dr Ho's research describes this entrepreneurial spirit as a mix of ability and attitude. On the ability side, it means championing innovation and actively seeking out resources. On the attitude side, it means humility in valuing colleagues' contributions, together with a careful, considered approach to managing risk. We believe that when teachers and school leaders develop this entrepreneurial spirit, they are better placed to bring about meaningful, lasting improvement in their own schools.
TESIP remains committed to walking alongside Hong Kong's schools, offering leaders practical tools, expert guidance, and a deeper understanding of their own school context. Our hope is for every teacher leader to grow into an effective, entrepreneurial force for school improvement.
