Programme Overview
Courses on Physical and Mental Health for Teachers is commissioned by the Education Bureau and delivered by The Education University of Hong Kong. Designed to promote teacher well-being and enhance work capacity, the Courses offered teachers a range of targeted workshops addressing emotional, mental and physical health. These included an art-based certification course, expressive arts therapy workshops for stress and emotional support, and yoga workshops for stress management and mindfulness, supplemented by an online yoga course participants could integrate into daily life. Together, the Courses aimed to help teachers build a healthier, more positive and sustainable approach to their professional lives.
Who It Was For
Courses on Physical and Mental Health for Teachers was for serving teachers of schools in Hong Kong, excluding those at private schools offering non-formal curriculum. Schools recommended their teachers for enrolment, with places offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants could choose from workshops on art-based relaxation, expressive arts therapy, and yoga and mindfulness, allowing them to select whichever approach best suited their own emotional, mental or physical wellbeing needs at the time.
What the Programme Covered
Courses on Physical and Mental Health for Teachers was designed to promote teacher well-being and enhance work capacity through a variety of targeted workshops. Participants could pursue certification through the Pastel Nagomi Art Associate Instructor Course, accredited by the Japan Pastel Hope Art Association, using art creation to foster relaxation and emotional balance. Expressive arts therapy workshops provided a safe space for self-exploration and personal growth, addressing issues such as stress, anxiety and grief through creative expression. Yoga workshops emphasised stress management, resilience and mindfulness practices to support both physical and mental well-being, with an additional online yoga course offering techniques such as breathing exercises and posture awareness to help participants integrate wellness practices into daily life. The Courses holistically supported teachers' emotional, mental and physical health.
