Programme Overview
The Shenzhen-Hong Kong Principals' Forum 2024 was a flagship cross-border education event co-organised by the Education Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality and the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and delivered by The Education University of Hong Kong. It was held in December 2024 under the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Education Co-operation Agreement, which has seen the two authorities co-organise the Forum annually since 2011. Themed around cultivating principals' leadership in building a strong educational nation, the Forum brought together school leaders and education professionals from Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Macao and other Greater Bay Area cities for a day of professional exchange and leadership development.
Who It Was For
The Shenzhen-Hong Kong Principals' Forum 2024 was for kindergarten, primary, secondary and special school principals from Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Macao and other Greater Bay Area cities, alongside education experts, academics and government officials from these places. Participants were drawn from across the region's school leadership community, reflecting the Forum's aim of fostering professional dialogue between principals from different education systems. Macao principals have joined the Forum since 2013, further broadening its reach across the Greater Bay Area.
What the Programme Covered
The Shenzhen-Hong Kong Principals' Forum 2024 opened with a ceremony and a keynote speech followed by an open discussion, giving participants the chance to respond to the Forum's theme. In the afternoon, participants took part in parallel sharing sessions grouped by school type, kindergarten, primary, secondary and special school, allowing participants to exchange first-hand experience and perspectives on school leadership with fellow principals from across the Greater Bay Area. A collection of essays contributed by principals from across the region was also compiled and distributed to participants alongside the Forum programme.
