Programme Overview
The Educational Administration and Management Course for School Administrators is delivered by the Academy for Educational Development and Innovation at The Education University of Hong Kong. The Course equips participants with the knowledge and skills for effective mentoring and collegial support in schools, helping them develop strong self-reflection on their role and confidently address the concerns schools commonly face. Delivered through lectures, workshops and school visits, it features EdUHK academic staff, experienced school principals and leaders from outside the education sector, and encourages participants to network with fellow teachers and universities. Participants who complete the Course's assessments and attendance requirements receive a certificate of completion.
Who It Was For
The Educational Administration and Management Course for School Administrators is for serving Senior Graduate Masters/Mistresses (SGMs) and Primary School Masters/Mistresses (PSMs) who aspire to promotion to Principal Graduate Master/Mistress (PGM) or Senior Primary School Master/Mistress (SPSM) posts. The Course prepares these teachers with the knowledge and skills expected of senior school administrators, helping them build confidence in taking on greater leadership and administrative responsibility, mentoring colleagues and contributing more broadly to their school's development.
What the Programme Covered
The Educational Administration and Management Course for School Administrators covers school administration and development, staff development and mentoring, curriculum and teaching leadership, and student support and school-community partnership. It also addresses the legal and constitutional context of school administration, and gives participants space to reflect on their own leadership beliefs, including topics such as AI in school leadership and teacher entrepreneurialism, alongside a look at contemporary developments across education organisations more broadly. Teaching and learning activities include lectures, group discussion, case studies, reflective journals and consultation sessions, helping participants connect course content to their own school context and apply it to their daily work.
